Why I love the Pomodoro Technique

In case you missed it, I posted information on the @ScholarCulture instagram on the Pomodoro Technique. For some of you, this may be a review. But for those who have never heard of this technique and want to increase their time management skills, keep reading to find out more!

What is it?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. Pomodoro is tomato in Italian; it is named after the classic tomato kitchen timer. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks.

How does it work?

Why I love it?

I like to use a timer that is separate form my phone or computer. I typically put my phone in another room and close all browsers and e-mail. This ensures that I will have minimal distractions. The timer I have is pictured in the photo below and you can find it on amazon.

However there is also a browser app you can use here, as well as an app that is similar to this technique here.

Now I want to hear from you!

  • Do you use the Pomodoro Technique?
  • What other techniques do you use for time management?

Until next time,
